Family-Friendly Frights: Community Trick-or-Treats in the D

Between haunted houses, costume parties, and horror movie screenings, there are plenty of scary ways to celebrate Halloween in Metro Detroit. If you’re looking for something a little less scary and more family-friendly to celebrate the holiday, Metro Detroit has plenty of perfect treats. Community trick-or-treats are the perfect way for kids to show off their creative costumes with their friends in a fun environment. So grab your witch hats and vampire fangs and head out to these community trick-or-treats in the D!

Boo Bash (10/18)

Kids 8 and under can enjoy plenty of Halloween fun at this year’s Lake Orion Boo Bash taking place on Friday, October 18. The evening includes hay-wagon rides, carnival games, crafts, and of course trick-or-treating! Pre-registration is required with admission being $10 for residents, and $12 for non-residents.

Trick or Treat Trail (10/19)

The Northville Community Center will play host to the city’s annual Trick or Treat Trail on Saturday, October 19. Festivities such as crafts, trick-or-treating, and a Haunted Hallway kick-off at 4 p.m. Admission is $8 per child with no on-site registration, so be sure to visit the Northville Parks and Rec website to register you and your family.

Trick or Treasure (10/26)

Downtown Clawson will host its Trick or Treasure family event beginning at noon on Saturday, October 26. Your family can enjoy a trip through a decorated downtown, gathering treats from local businesses along with the Clawson Police and Fire Departments. All treats are allergy friendly and safe for all kids to enjoy.

HarvestFest Detroit (10/26)

The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy will host the free HarvestFest Detroit along the Dequindre Cut Greenway near Eastern Market beginning at noon. Along with trick-or-treating, families can enjoy airbrush tattoos, inflatables, hayrides, live music and photo opportunities with their favorite princesses and superheroes. You can also bring nutritional non-perishable food items to help with the HarvestFest Food Drive.

Downtown Ferndale Trick or Treat Night (10/26)

Downtown Ferndale welcomes kids to come as ghosts, princesses, ninjas or other ghoulish creatures at their Trick or Treat Night on Saturday, October 26.
